P1000 sandpaper is a waterproof silicon carbide abrasive for wet sanding of paintwork. It levels orange peel, runs and dust on fresh lacquer before P1500–P2000 and polishing. Use only with water, on a block or by hand.

Add a drop of detergent to the water and change it often — P1000 grain clogs quickly, and dry sanding overheats the lacquer.

No, waterproof P1000 paper is designed for wet sanding: water cools the lacquer and washes away dust, otherwise the grain clogs and leaves marks.
