What are NovoAbrasive sanding belts?

NovoAbrasive sanding belts are closed abrasive cloths for belt sanders. They are used for processing large flat surfaces, sanding wood, metal and removing coatings.

Abrasive: Aluminum oxide and zirconium. Grits P24–P220. Standard sizes for hand-held belt sanders and stationary equipment. Fabric backing provides flexibility and strength.

Answers to the most common questions about sanding belts

How to choose the grit of the sanding belt?

The choice depends on the task: P40 - rough sanding, paint and rust removal; P60 - removal of irregularities; P80 - surface preparation; P100 - semi-finishing sanding; P120 - finishing before varnishing or painting.

What belt size is right for my sander?

The size of the belt should exactly match the model of your sander. The most common sizes are: 75x457 mm (for compact machines), 75x533 mm (standard size), 100x610 mm (for powerful models). Check the instructions for your tool.

Why is a fabric base better than a paper base?

A fabric base is much stronger and more elastic than a paper base. It can withstand higher loads, is less prone to tearing and provides a longer service life for the tape. A fabric base also conducts heat better.

How many ribbons are in the set?

All NovoAbrasive sanding belts come in a set of 3 of the same grit. This is the optimal quantity for typical sanding jobs.

Why does the tape get clogged quickly?

Main causes: grit too fine for rough work, excessive pressure on the material, sanding resinous or damp wood, belt speed too low. Try changing the grit or reducing the pressure.

Can I sand metal with wood belts?

NovoAbrasive aluminum oxide sanding belts are versatile and suitable for both wood and metal. For metal, coarser grits (P40–P80) are recommended.

How to properly install a belt on a sander?

There is an arrow on the belt indicating the direction of rotation. Install the belt according to this arrow. The belt should be evenly tensioned. After installation, check the centering using the machine adjustment screw.

How to store sanding belts?

Store the tapes in a dry place at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity. Do not bend the tapes. It is best to store them in their original packaging, hanging.
