NovoAbrasive's Extreme ceramic cutting disc series has successfully passed independent safety testing at the MPA Hannover laboratory, the oldest independent testing center for abrasive tools in Europe with over 60 years of experience. The laboratory is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065.
What exactly was tested?
Extreme series discs have undergone a full cycle of tests in accordance with the requirements of the European standard EN 12413:
- Burst test - a test at superspeeds well in excess of the operating speed of 80 m/s. The disc is spun up to a critical speed to confirm the safety margin.
- Side load test — a test of resistance to lateral forces that occur when the cutting angle is incorrect or the disc is clamped.
- Bending & shear test — assessment of the structural integrity of the ligament and reinforcing mesh.
- Dimensional and balancing check— control of geometric parameters and evenness of mass distribution.
- Compliance with EN 12413 marking - checking the correctness of all mandatory markings.
The result: full certification according to EN 12413 from an independent laboratory accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065.
Double security control
MPA Hannover certification complements our ongoing internal monitoring of the oSa protocol, which is carried out on our own certified equipment. This means that every batch of Extreme drives undergoes a double safety check before entering the customer's production line.
MPA Hannover certification is voluntary. We do it because operators who work with industrial ceramic discs at maximum speed have the right to know that their tool has been tested by an independent party that has no commercial interest in the results.
