What are NovoAbrasive grinding sheets?

NovoAbrasive sanding sheets are rectangular abrasive sheets for hand sanding and use with orbital sanders. Suitable for wood, metal, filler and varnish coatings.

Base: paper or fabric. Grit from P40 (coarse) to P400 (finish). Standard format 230×280 mm for manual work and cutting for sanders.

Answers to the most common questions about sanding sheets

What is the difference between a fabric and a waterproof base?
The cloth backing is more tear-resistant and is designed for dry sanding of wood, metal and putty. The water-resistant silicon carbide (SiC) backing withstands contact with water and is designed for wet sanding of paintwork, automotive work and finishing.
What grain should I choose for wood?
For rough sanding of wood, use P80. For intermediate sanding, use P100–P180. For finishing before painting or varnishing, use P240. Always sand along the grain of the wood.
How to properly wet sand?
Soak the waterproof sanding sheet in water for 10-15 minutes before use. Regularly wet the surface with water while sanding. This reduces dust, prevents the abrasive from sticking, and provides a smoother surface.
Can I use a cloth sheet for wet sanding?
No, the fabric backing is not intended for contact with water. When wet, it loses its strength and may peel off. For wet sanding, use only water-resistant sheets marked SiC (silicon carbide).
What grit should I choose for automotive work?
For sanding putty - P600–P800. For preparing the surface for paint - P800–P1000. For sanding between layers of varnish - P1000–P2000. For preparing for polishing - P2000. Always use waterproof paper with the wet method.
How many sheets are in one package?
The standard package of NovoAbrasive sanding sheets contains 50 pieces of one grain. This is the optimal quantity for professional use.
Can the sanding sheet be cut to the required size?
Yes, 230x280 mm sanding sheets can be cut with scissors or a knife to any desired size. This is convenient for sanding hard-to-reach places or for use with various models of orbital sanders.
How to store sanding sheets?
Store sanding sheets in a dry place at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight and humidity. Sheets should be stored horizontally in their original packaging. If stored correctly, the shelf life is unlimited.
