Cutting wheel 125 mm — from the manufacturer NovoAbrasive
The most popular diameter for angle grinders (grinders). Reinforced with fiberglass, for metal, stainless steel and stone. Thickness from 0.8 to 3.2 mm. Three quality series.
Why 125 mm is the most popular size
The 125 mm cutting wheel is the most popular size among abrasive discs. It is compatible with most household and professional angle grinders (AG) with a power of 720 to 1500 W. It is 125 mm that provides the optimal ratio of cutting depth, tool controllability and work safety.
NovoAbrasive produces 125 mm cutting wheels on Davide Maternini equipment (Italy), using abrasive grains from leading global manufacturers - Saint-Gobain and Imerys. Each batch is certified by MPA Hannover (Germany) and complies with the European standard EN 12413.
How to choose the thickness of a 125 mm cutting wheel
| Thickness | Application | Advantages | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.8 mm | Sheet metal, profiles | Minimum cutting width, fastest cutting | Professionals, precise work |
| 1.0 mm | Sheet metal, pipes up to 3 mm | Fast cutting with minimal waste | Universal choice |
| 1.2 mm | Medium thickness metal | Balance of speed and resource | Daily work |
| 1.6 mm | Pipes, profiles, fittings | Increased resource, stable cutting | Builders |
| 2.0 mm | Metal and stone | Universal thickness | Household use |
| 2.5 mm | Stone, concrete, thick metal | Maximum resource | Heavy work |
| 3.0–3.2 mm | Stone, heavy structures | Maximum strength | Industrial conditions |
Rule: the thinner the wheel, the faster and cleaner the cut, but the shorter the service life. For daily professional metal work, it is optimal to choose a thickness of 1.0–1.6 mm.
Product series 125 mm
STANDARD — Economy series
A reliable solution for household and infrequent work. Speed: 80 m/s. EN 12413. Brands: NovoAbrasive Standard, Getman, HETMAN. Thicknesses: 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 mm.
PROFI — Professional series
Optimal price/quality ratio. MPA Hannover certification. Brands: NovoAbrasive Profi, WellCut. Thicknesses: 0.8–3.2 mm. INOX: yes.
EXTREME — Industrial Series
Maximum performance for tough industrial conditions. MPA Hannover certification. Brand: NovoAbrasive Extreme. Thicknesses: 1.0, 1.2, 1.6 mm.
What materials are 125 mm wheels suitable for?
Carbon steel. Standard and professional series are suitable for structural steel, pipes, fittings, profiles and sheet metal. For everyday work on construction sites and in the workshop, choose the PROFI series with a thickness of 1.0–1.6 mm - they provide a fast, smooth cut with minimal sparking.
Stainless steel (INOX). Wheels marked INOX are free of iron and sulfur, which prevents contamination and corrosion of the cut area. The PROFI and EXTREME series have special modifications for stainless steel. Choose a thickness of 1.0–1.2 mm for a clean cut without overheating.
Stone and concrete. Silicon carbide (SiC) abrasive wheels are designed for mineral materials: stone, concrete, brick, slate. Use a thickness of 2.0–3.2 mm for sufficient life when cutting hard mineral materials.
Aluminum and non-ferrous metals. For soft and ductile non-ferrous metals, use wheels with an open structure that prevent the abrasive surface from becoming greasy. Recommended thickness is 1.0–1.6 mm.

Frequently asked questions
Which 125 mm wheel is best for everyday work?
For daily professional metal work, we recommend the PROFI series with a thickness of 1.0–1.2 mm. These wheels provide the optimal ratio of cutting speed, resource and cost per cut. Certified by MPA Hannover, suitable for carbon and stainless steel.
What is the difference between Type 41 and Type 42?
Type 41 (flat) is a classic cut-off wheel with a flat surface. Ideal for straight cuts at 90°. Type 42 (dropped center) is a wheel with a recessed seat, which allows you to cut closer to the surface and work more comfortably at an angle. Both types have the same cutting characteristics.
How many meters of metal does one 125 mm wheel cut?
The resource depends on the series, the thickness of the wheel and the material. For example, a PROFI wheel 125×1.0 mm when cutting a pipe with a diameter of 25 mm provides approximately 40–60 cuts. The wheels of the EXTREME series have an extended resource - up to 70–90 cuts under the same conditions. The wheels of the STANDARD series - 15–25 cuts.
What is the maximum speed for a 125 mm wheel?
The maximum permissible rotation speed for 125 mm cutting wheels is 12,200 rpm, which corresponds to a linear speed of 80 m/s. Never exceed this speed - this is indicated on each wheel. Check the maximum rotation speed of your grinder before installing the wheel.
Can I use a 125 mm wheel on a 115 mm grinder?
Absolutely not! Installing a larger diameter wheel on a grinder designed for a smaller size is a gross violation of safety regulations. The protective cover will not cover the wheel, and the tool may spin at a higher speed. This can lead to wheel breakage and serious injury. Use only wheels of the diameter your grinder is designed for.
How to properly store 125 mm wheels?
Store cutting wheels in a dry place with a relative humidity of no more than 65%, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The wheels should lie horizontally on a flat surface without any load from above. The shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture indicated on the label. Do not use wheels that have expired.
