Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about diamond grinding wheels

How to choose the grit of a polishing wheel?
Start with coarse grits (P30–P60) to remove scratches, then gradually move to fine grits (P400–P3000) to achieve a mirror finish. Each subsequent step reduces the scratches from the previous one.
Is water needed when working with polishing wheels?
Yes, wet processing is recommended. Water cools the diamond coating, prevents overheating and extends the life of the wheel. Water also washes away sludge and improves the surface quality.
What is the difference between a segmented and turbo cup?
The segmented cup (double row) provides aggressive material removal and is suitable for rough grinding of concrete. The turbo cup has a continuous wavy rim, which gives a smoother surface and less vibration.
What is a support disk and why is it needed?
The backing (holding) disc is a plastic plate with Velcro that attaches to the grinder. Flexible polishing wheels are mounted on it. Without the backing disc, the use of polishing wheels is impossible.
Are these wheels suitable for dry grinding?
Polishing wheels are designed for wet processing. Grinding cups can work both wet and dry, but dry operation reduces the service life.
At what speed should you work with diamond wheels?
Recommended rotation speed for 100 mm polishing wheels is 1500 to 4000 rpm depending on the material. For 125 mm grinding cups, up to 12,200 rpm. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
How are discs with a "star" different from regular ones?
Wheels marked "star" have a special diamond-coated pattern in the shape of a star. This improves slag removal and cooling, which increases productivity in intensive work.
