What are NovoAbrasive non-woven abrasive wheels?

NovoAbrasive non-woven abrasive wheels are grinding discs made of non-woven material (Scotch-Brite type) with evenly distributed abrasive grain. They are used for finishing, matting, oxide removal and surface preparation.

Does not leave scratches or change the geometry of the part. Suitable for stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Mounted on a support plate or spindle.

Two types of non-woven discs

Purple for aggressive removal, black for delicate matting

VIOLET 2
Purple series

For fast removal of paint, rust, scale and old coatings. High material removal rate while maintaining part geometry.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about non-woven abrasive

What is a non-woven abrasive disc?
The Clean & Strip disc is a tool made of non-woven nylon fiber impregnated with abrasive grains. Unlike conventional grinding wheels, it works gently, does not overheat the surface and does not change the geometry of the part.
What is the difference between purple and black discs?
The purple disc (P60-P80) is more aggressive, designed for quick removal of paint, rust and coatings. The black disc (P100-P180) is more delicate, ideal for final matting, preparation for painting and light scale removal.
What materials can it be used on?
Non-woven discs are suitable for processing steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and other metals. Can also be used on fiberglass and composite materials. Not recommended for wood and stone.
What tool is needed for the job?
Non-woven discs are mounted on a standard angle grinder (grinder) with a 22.23 mm mounting hole. For a 115 mm disc, a 115 mm angle grinder is required, for a 125 mm disc, a 125 mm angle grinder. The maximum speed should not exceed that indicated on the disc.
Does a non-woven disc damage metal?
No, this is one of the main advantages of non-woven discs. They remove coatings, rust and scale without removing the base metal. The part retains its dimensions and geometry, which is critical for precision products.
What is the optimal rotation speed?
Recommended speed is 6000-8000 rpm for optimal results. Maximum permissible speed for 115 mm disc is 12,200 rpm, for 125 mm is 12,200 rpm. Excessive speed can lead to premature wear of the disc.
How long does one disk usually last?
The resource depends on the intensity of use and the material being processed. On average, one non-woven disc is able to process 2-5 sq.m of surface. The disc wears evenly and works until the non-woven layer is completely erased.
Is a protective cover needed?
Yes, when working with non-woven discs, be sure to use a protective cover on the grinder, safety glasses and gloves. Although the disc works softer than a regular abrasive, particles of non-woven material and removed coating can get into your eyes.
